Focus on consuming complex carbohydrates with a low glycemic index( GI) that cause a slower rise in blood sugar. These include whole grains like brown rice, quinoa, and oats, as well as vegetables and legumes. 

2. Fiber-rich foods Foods high in fiber help slow down the absorption of sugar and can help regulate blood sugar levels. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds in the diet. 

3. Healthy fats Replace saturated and trans fats with healthy fats like those found in avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil. These fats have a positive effect on heart health and can help improve insulin sensitivity. 

4. Protein Include lean sources of protein in each meal, such as poultry, fish, tofu, beans, and lentils. Protein can help stabilize blood sugar levels and keep you feeling full for longer. 

5. Limit sugary and processed foods Minimize the consumption of sugary beverages, sweets, and processed foods with added sugars. These can cause rapid spikes in blood sugar levels. 

6. Portion control Keep an eye on portion sizes to avoid overeating, as excessive food intake can lead to higher blood sugar levels. 

7. Regular meal timings Try to eat meals and snacks at consistent times throughout the day to help stabilize blood sugar levels. 

8. Stay hydrated Drink plenty of water throughout the day as it can help with blood sugar management. 

9. Limit alcohol If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation, and always have it with food to prevent rapid changes in blood sugar levels. 

10. Consult a dietitian Every individual's dietary needs are unique. A registered dietitian with experience in diabetes management can help create a personalized meal plan tailored to specific health needs and lifestyle.
